Ch. 15: The Problem With Joining A Gang

List the different problems Alvin had in joining a gang.

Ch. 14: The Apes of Math

Alvin was put in a pickle during Math class. What would you have done if you were Alvin?

Ch. 13: Rule No. 2

Alvin's dad has taught Alvin two rules -No. 1: Being a gentleman means no hitting; No. 2: No cursing or insulting. What are some morals your parents have instilled in you? Do you think they're fair rules?

Ch. 12: Psychotherapy

Alvin surprises the psychotherapist by reciting Calvin's words while he played Alvin in a card game. Then, he can't stop making Shakespeare comments to her. What Shakespeare comment would you make to "the psycho", if you were Alvin? Mom? Teacher? Coach? Principal?

Ch. 11: The Whole Tooth

Compare and contrast a teacher (music teacher, coach, school teacher, etc.) to Alvin's piano teacher. Use a Venn diagram, drawn or computer template, to show the similarities and differences of these two people. I've attached the template for a Venn diagram to the "Alvin Ho" post on our class blog.

Ch. 6: Minutemen vs. Redcoats

Ch. 6 discusses the history of Alvin's town, Concord, Massachusetts. What did you learn about Minutemen and Redcoats? Alvin also discusses his family's history. What did you learn about the Chinese culture?

You've now been introduced to Alvin Ho. What characteristics describe his personality? What are his interests? List at least 20 one or two-word adjectives about Alvin Ho on a sheet of notebook paper. Then, using the site below, create a Wordle about Alvin Ho. You will need to print it immediately, as these can not be saved.

HINT: To create text that's different sizes, type the adjectives several times. You will also need to use a "~" mark between two words to keep them beside each other. EXAMPLE: fun~loving = fun loving (on the wordle).

Alvin Ho thinks he's a superhero. In fact, he is a specific superhero - Firecracker Man. Where did he come up with this idea? What are his powers?

After answering these questions, create your own superhero on a blank piece of paper. Make sure to have a name, along with details on what your superhero's powers are.
