Here are some things you should know about Alvin Ho: 1. He is afraid of everything! 2. He is from Concord, Massachusetts, which is hard to spell. 3. He loves Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and all the superheroes of the world. In fact, he is a superhero himself - Firecracker Man! 4. He is trying really hard to be a gentleman, like his dad. 5. He can talk at home and on the school bus, but never, ever at school. It is just too scary (see #1).
I think a "roast duck in the window" means it's blocking your way to see out the window which means he's trying to find a way to see happiness or overcoming fears but he just can't.

You're in a pickle means you're in a bad situation.
ReplyDeleteI think it means something is blocking your way to achievement, like when you are trying to overcome something and something isn't letting you. Another idiom I have heard is Pigs Arse! It is something you say when you don't think what someone is telling you is true.

ReplyDelete"Roast duck in the window" means feeling bad about something because he was feeling horrible about hanging on the tree.Also he said at the end of the chapter it was worth it to hang like a roast duck to hear poor thing come out of his mom's mouth.
